Whether you are a beginner or experienced triathlete, I will work with you and give you the individualized attention you need to significantly boost your training and reach your goals. The program, open to all ages and ability levels, is tailored to provide you with an optimal triathlon training program based on your goals, experience, fitness level, skills and lifestyle.
Each training program is uniquely created and adjusted to match your specific needs and fitness goals. Ongoing communication is the key to a successful training program and it is the cornerstone of Counterpart Coaching.
We will begin by reviewing your background, training and race experience, and current fitness level. Then we will work together to build a training program that is realistic, manageable, and effective in accomplishing your goals. We will use an online training log to view your program and track your progress. I also like my athletes to use other tools like a heart rate monitor and power meter to accurately log and track workouts.
As a certified cycling coach with 20 years of experience as a competitive runner, Ironman triathlete, and ultra marathoner, I wanted to share my experience, provide the objective analysis and feedback needed to design and help execute your training program.
I believe in
- Continuous communication with an athlete: Unlike many coaching programs, ours is not a cookie-cutter computer-generated training plan. It is developed based on your current fitness level, results from a collection of workouts you will do and ongoing feedback from you.
- Making every workout count: That is our coaching philosophy and I will stick to it by regularly reviewing your workout results to determine how to make quality workouts the key component of your training plan. I will make sure you maximize your training time and leave all those garbage miles where they belong -- in the trash.
- Periodization training: Periodization training is the key to becoming a stronger, faster athlete. I use training principles based from 20 years of experience and utilized by many professional triathletes to build your fitness through key workouts taking you from base training early in your season to race-specific speed and tempo sessions as you near race day. Recovery is the most crucial component, and I will help you determine how to make rest work in your favor to charge you up for your key workouts each week.
Working one-on-one with me as your coach will allow you to advance your skills and knowledge while optimizing your fitness to make you race-ready.
